Good morning. Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you all enjoy this day of love! <3 I decided to do a quick review of a book I recently finished (for the first time); You Are A Badass. Yep, I plan to keep this amazing little book handy and read many of the chapters over and over again because it was THAT good.

By the end of You Are a Badass, you’ll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can’t change, how to change what you don’t love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass.
This is not your typical “book review” book, because this book is a motivational, live your best life type. However, it is a book that really resonated with me, and many of the points stick in my mind every day. I am somewhat at a crossroads in my life and I am trying really hard to make certain things happen. One of the biggest things about Jen’s (I’ll just talk about her like we’re best friends) writing that struck me is her incredible self-respect. Also, her humor is on point and I laughed so hard many times.
I realize it can take some time to build-up self-confidence, as I know firsthand what disliking yourself can do to your state of being. After reading this book, I wake up every single morning with thoughts of greatness. Sometimes, it’s a fleeting thought, but most days it carries me through my dreadful workday. I have so many ideas floating around in my head of things I want to do and this book made me just say “why not me?” all to often. I see other people going for it, so I am too. There are many many things and people holding me back and I’m trying hard to throw up my blinders and keep on truckin right now. My dreams are becoming my reality and that’s how every single person should live their life.
Anyway, back to the book. it’s an awe-inspiring, motivational, and eye-opening read. Jen has traveled the world, much like I would LOVE to do and she has seen and learned many things. She tells it like it is and digs deep into faith. Whatever higher being you believe in, you need to start trusting [it]. I am a Christian, so putting more faith in God has really begun to open my eyes to the world around me.
Finally, she speaks a lot about energy. I’m not talking about 10 cups of coffee energy. She talks about energy within the universe and really letting it speak to you. Meditation is something that’s weird and hard to do. But, if you can connect with the universe in this way, you will be happier and healthier. She shows us that this wonderful planet is filled with opportunities and if you’re emitting the right energy, they just come to you. I have not yet mastered the art of meditating, but I am taking 5 minutes a day to try. I know I will get there someday, and it will be colossal and awesome.
So, I’ll leave you with this quote from the book. It’s one of many that I keep turning back to and reading to myself quite often.
“Our entire experience on this planet is determined by how we choose to perceive our reality.”
